I.

Serve, e tace.

III.

Una seconda mano

Nessuna lavorazione delegata, nessun reparto, nessun "quasi". Ogni decisione che dà carattere all'opera passa dalle stesse mani.

Senza connessione

La Materia

Custodia Silenziosa

Umidificazione passiva, tenuta calibrata e gesti essenziali.

Officina De Pandis · Il tempo, custodito.

Cedro spagnolo massello
Stagionato in atelier, non a magazzino
Tenuta verificata
Guarnizioni calibrate a mano, testate a pressione d'aria
Umidificazione passiva
Passaporto digitale NFC
Fascicolo tecnico per ogni opera
Le specifiche, senza aggettivi

Interno in cedro spagnolo massello, stagionato in atelier.

The atelier in half-light: a single humidor under one beam of light
Art humidors in a single exemplar · Designed around one collection · Built one at a time in Italy

Neither should its environment.

I craft humidors in a single exemplar, designed around the collection, the place they will live in, and the time they must guard.
Craft tradition guides the material. Invisible technology keeps watch over it.Every piece is signed, certified, and struck from the repertoire after delivery.

The invisible risk

Value isn't lost when you light the cigar.
It's lost before.

In a mass-produced humidor, a vintage cigar surrenders humidity, essential oils and value without warning. The safe window is narrow: 65–72% humidity, 18–21 degrees.

The first warning always arrives too late

Every day spent in a mass-produced humidor — young woods, industrial glues, approximate seals — a vintage cigar surrenders humidity, essential oils and value. Slowly. Irreversibly. No sound, no visible sign: the first warning arrives when the bouquet has already changed.

The window is narrow: 65–72% humidity, 18–21 degrees. Outside it, no fire is needed to destroy a collection: a single season will do.

The costliest risk is the one your collection cannot show you. That is why every essential parameter must be verifiable.

A fine cigar: the hairline crack left behind when internal stability fails
The pact

Three things that will never happen here.

I.

A second example

Every piece is born from a drawing that, on delivery, is destroyed. You receive the certificate of uniqueness, signed by hand. There will not be another — not for another client, not for a museum, not for me. Ever.

II.

A cable, a light, a sound

The guardianship that protects your collection lives embedded in the wood: invisible, silent, without a single cable in sight. The technology does not show itself. It serves, and stays quiet.

III.

A second hand

No outsourced work, no department, no "almost". Every decision that gives the piece its character passes through the same hands. Mine. It is the only Made in Italy I recognize: the one I cannot subcontract to anyone.

The master's hand on the Spanish cedar; the brass sensor flush with the wood
Protect what cannot be recovered

Technology can disappear.
Protection cannot.

Guardianship can be entrusted entirely to the material. When you choose a deeper vigil, discreet sensors measure the microclimate and involve you only when a condition requires a decision.

Technology, when it serves

From material that regulates.
To a presence that alerts.

These are not versions of the piece. They are three independent ways to guard it: no active electronics, silent measurement, or a system designed to recognize a condition and set your chosen response in motion.

Without a connection

The Material

Silent Guardianship

Passive humidification, calibrated sealing and essential gestures. No sensors, no account, no notification: only wood, balance and the owner's ritual.

When you want to know

The Guardian

Watchful Guardianship

Integrated sensors read temperature, humidity and openings, preserving their history. You can verify whenever you wish and receive only essential alerts through the chosen channel.

When something must happen

The Presence

Active Guardianship

Microclimate, access, movement or location can activate a tailored sequence: app, email, SMS, phone call, trusted person or atelier. Only what is useful, verifiable and maintainable over time.

Your relationship with the author and the depth of guardianship are two separate decisions. Wood remains the protagonist; technology enters only when the control it adds is worth its complexity.
Officina De Pandis · Time, safeguarded.
The hand hovering over the burl slab, an instant before the touch
The material

The wood is not worked.
It is listened to.

Century-old trunks of briar, walnut and Spanish cedar rest in the atelier for years, until a grain reveals the piece they had been keeping all along. It is the one resource no fortune can buy: the time of those who know how to wait.

How to recognize an artwork in the grain

Before the drawing, there is the waiting. Century-old trunks of briar, walnut and Spanish cedar rest in the shadows of the atelier for years, until I recognize — in a grain, in a density, in a scent — the piece that wood had been keeping all along.

Then come the hands. Gestures gathered from men who have worked wood for over seventy years, repeated without haste and without shortcuts, until the material surrenders its form. It is the one resource no fortune can buy: the time of those who know how to wait.

But the wood does not choose alone. A hand decides — and it has a name.
The author

I did not inherit their years.
I learned where improvisation is not permitted.

Three craftsmen — from Bassano, Val Gardena and Brianza — taught me to read light on the grain, to listen to what wood refuses, to never work from memory.

The three lessons I still bring to the bench

At trade fairs devoted to fine cabinetmaking, among luxury furniture and nautical work, I met three craftsmen from Bassano, Val Gardena and Brianza. One taught me to read light before form: when it breaks across the surface, the grain has been forced.

Another taught me to listen to what the material refuses: wood does not lie; it reveals when a drawing is asking too much of it.

The third taught me never to work from memory: before every irreversible stage, temperature and humidity are measured again.

The costly proofs

I turned down a walnut burl flawless to the eye: touch revealed a hidden tension. Lost the board. Saved the piece.

A work of art cannot be replicated. If an identical piece exists anywhere in the world, then it is not luxury. It is merely production.

Possession

Open the piece.

Cedar precedes what you will see. The hinge slows the gesture, the lid settles at its point of balance: only then does the collection appear. Even the sound of closing reveals seal, mass and constructive precision.

What the sound of closing reveals

Cedar precedes what you will see. The hinge slows the gesture. The lid reaches its point of balance and stays there. Only then does the collection appear.

Even the closing has a voice. The sound of the lid, the resistance of the air and the way the cavity returns the gesture help you sense seal, mass and constructive precision. They do not determine the cigar's aging: they make the quality of the piece perceptible to whoever opens it.

Outside, a monument.
Inside, a biological vault.

The Spanish cedar interior holds humidity in the exact range that protects the essential oils, granting cigars the one thing they truly ask for: undisturbed time.

The only thing they truly ask for

The Spanish cedar interior holds humidity in the exact range that protects the tobacco's essential oils, and grants cigars capable of refinement the one thing they truly ask for: undisturbed time. Oils marry, edges soften, character rounds. And in the pieces that keep watch with the Custode, stability is not a promise: it is a figure you read on your phone every morning, wherever you are in the world.

Anyone will see a work of art. Only those who know the material will understand what they're looking at.

Your hands opening the piece: the cedar lights the wrists
So far it exists only in your mind. Tell it, and it will begin to exist elsewhere — first in the relationship you choose with the author, then in the way it will continue to guard.
The commission

A piece passes through two times.

The one in which it is born with you. And the one in which it will go on guarding once it has left the atelier. Every piece begins from a blank page: first you decide the place you wish to hold in its birth, then how much you want it to know how to watch over what you entrust to it.

You are not choosing a model. You are defining a relationship.
The unrepeatable outcome of a commission entrusted to the author's vision
Entrust the vision

The Author's Vision

Greatest freedom. A single signature.
For those who wish to entrust the form rather than anticipate it.

You entrust the author with what cannot be negotiated — the collection, the place, the time it must guard. The rest is born at the bench.

Essence, proportions and sign belong to the author's vision. The piece will be revealed to you once it has found its own form.

  • The collection's requirements defined in the consultation
  • Wood, proportions and mark entrusted to the author
  • An unrepeatable design, documented in the piece's dossier

Private Dialogue

Your collection becomes the principle.
For those who want to leave a personal mark without taking freedom from the author.

You bring to the table what the piece must guard, evoke and remember. Essence, proportions and sign emerge from the dialogue; the author turns those coordinates into a form that never existed before.

You follow the birth without having to design it.

Reserved Atelier

For one atelier cycle, the bench bears your name.
For those who want to be present for the decisions that cannot be repeated.

You enter the moments that cannot be repeated: the choice of the material, the irreversible passages, the sign that only you will know.

You are not merely commissioning a piece. You are reserving a portion of the atelier's time for its birth.

  • A design born from zero, never derived
  • The trunk selected together and visits at decisive stages
  • A private mark, engraved where only you know
  • The complete diary and ritual delivery, anywhere in the world
You take part · the atelier reserves itself
Only one commission each year
There are no technology packages. The consultation defines what the piece must detect, which condition requires attention, who must be alerted and what should happen next. Value grows with two things: the atelier time reserved for the making, and the complexity of a guardianship designed to continue for years.

The atelier accepts only a few commissions each year; when the calendar is full, it closes. The commission deposit reserves that time and is fully credited against the value of the piece.

Two decisions. A single piece.

The relationship with the author and the form of guardianship remain independent. You can entrust the birth entirely and wish for a watchful presence. You can enter the atelier and choose that, once home, only matter and gesture remain.

There is no superior combination. There is the one that belongs to your way of living the collection.

The register of commissions ·

The master signs one piece at a time.
When the register is full, the atelier falls silent.

There is no catalogue. There is no inventory. There is only this page.

This year, too, the register will close.
Time will tell whom the last lines will belong to.
The author, in depth
I am 32.
The lessons I bring to the bench are older than I am.

The rest came at the bench: roughly ten years of commissioned work for companies, spanning yachts, luxury pieces and custom spearguns. Projects in which I received an idea and had to find the right way to give it material form. Officina De Pandis is the name this work takes today.

In a house, wood rests. On a yacht, it lives with the sea. That is why, to me, a humidor is not a box: it is an environment.

Roughly 10 years of commissioned work
A distinct build for every idea entrusted to me
Solid Spanish cedar
Seasoned in the atelier, not from stock
Verified seal
Hand-calibrated gaskets, tested by air pressure
Passive humidification
With integrated reserve; sensors per guardianship level
NFC digital passport
A technical dossier for every piece
The specifications, without adjectives

Solid Spanish cedar interior, seasoned in the atelier. Hand-calibrated sealing gaskets; closure checked by air pressure. Passive humidification system with integrated reserve; provision or installation of sensors according to the chosen degree of guardianship. Every piece leaves the atelier with its technical dossier and NFC digital passport — engineered and tested to keep the collection inside the window, and to prove it. Lead time is discussed in the consultation, according to the chosen relationship, guardianship and wood.

Before you write

Four questions to ask yourself before the consultation.

Which part of your collection would you entrust to the piece first?
Which cigar would you not accept seeing compromised?
What should this piece say about you in thirty years?
Who should open it after you?
Answering the first one opens the composition.
By invitation

Begin with your collection

There is no catalogue price for a piece that does not exist yet. The investment is defined with Riccardo, once material, time and design have taken form. You don't need to know what shape the piece will take: you only need to tell me what it must guard, where it will live, and how deeply you want to be part of its making. As you compose, the stars show the relative weight of each choice on the investment: they don't express quality — every piece is held to the same atelier standard. At the end you can reserve the atelier's time with the commission deposit.
